Please be certain to

Additional
elements to consider in your submission
In addition, you may want to consider including
at least some of these elements in your submission,
as well as in your final manuscript:
- Did you share stories
involving your hobby or interest that convey your
passion, your spirituality, your connectedness with
humankind, your awareness of interconnected energy,
etc? In short, please include stories that relate
to your hobby or interest that will make readers laugh
or cry, or sometimes even both. Put yet another
way, include stories that will make readers feel your
passion for your interest, and in turn remember the
times they have shared that feeling.
- Please note, however, that although your interests and stories are an important component, we are NOT looking for a memoir. Your experiences are a spring broad, with the purpose of helping readers, rather than the main point of the book. The goal is to show readers how they can open their hearts through the activity in question. You are the conduit to help readers understand how a particular activity can help them learn to live consciously and become self-aware; it's about the activity, and how the reader can lead a happier life through the activity.
- When did you begin
your hobby or interest?
- Why is it special
to you?
- Have you used humor
where appropriate?
- Is your tone light
and enjoyable, rather than ponderous and preachy?
- How, why, and when
do you connect so completely to this hobby or interest?
- Are there any appropriate
prayers or meditations to include? Are there
things you meditate about before or after the activity?
Or do you use the activity as a way to meditate?
- Did you find and include
appropriate quotations?
- Did you provide any
helpful advice on how to do the activity more easily?
- Did you provide advice
on how to make the activity fun when you hit a rough
spot? What do you enjoy least about the activity
and how do you overcome it? How can readers
use that same technique to overcome adversity, either
when doing this activity or in their lives generally?
- Similarly, did you
provide motivational advice for the activity?
- Did you include unique
tidbits of information about the activity that others
generally do not know?
- Did you give a history
of the activity?
- Are there famous people
who enjoy the activity?
- What is the joy/bliss
you feel and what is it about the activity that gets
you there?
- How can readers reach
that same feeling while doing the activity, how can
they recognize it for what it is, and how can they
take that to other parts of their lives? Are
there other specific instances where it would be easy
to apply the specifics from the activity?
- Have you used all
five senses to engage your readers?
- Did you tie your hobby/interest
into other things, such as music, the arts, etc.?
- Did you include affirmations
you use in your hobby?
