Life is Good!
December 14, 2006 | 1:44 pm
Hi Folks!
A lot has happened since we last “spoke.” We spent Thanksgiving in Buenos Aires! When we returned, we were so in love with South America that I wrote to Portillo and asked if they would consider a ski fitness week this summer. Guess what? They said yes!
In other news, I have written some articles for OnTheSnow.com. If you are interested in conditions at Copper Mountain, Skiing at Bormio Mountain Eploring Vail’s 10th Mountain Division History and more. You can check them out here:

Snowy Self Discovery
| 12:07 pm
As we find ourselves in the holiday season of the year, many of us experience the first snowfalls, think about the upcoming winter, and share the joys of home and hearth with those we love. For me, it’s also the time of year when my ski legs are really beginning to accelerate my own learning, the snow is getting better all the time, I’m reconnecting with friends I see mostly during ski season, and I’m finalizing plans for the various extended trips that I’ll take this year.
What about you?
Today I am deep in the middle of my coaching and consulting life, visiting a client in a midwestern town. But, after the storm earlier this month, there is a lot of snow on the ground, and I feel the tug of the slopes even in the midst of my conversations here. We talk about how the snow changes character over time as it slowly melts, and I have helped a friend consider the approaches necessary to ski in snow that has been tempered by 50 degree temperatures.
I’ve also been writing. You see, I’m the author of the upcoming DreamTime Publishing book “Open Your Heart With Skiing”. This book will be a great compliment to Lisa Marie Mercer’s “Open Your Heart With Winter Fitness,” and will provide an opportunity for you to consider whether skiing is a metaphor for life or life is a metaphor for skiing. Or, perhaps both simultaneously. So right now I am putting my thoughts to paper. Well, actually, to keyboard and screen. Thinking about how skiing wraps itself around skiers. Considering the life lessons that can come from it. Reflecting on the wisdom that I have gleaned from those who have coached and mentored me.
How about you? What are you doing this holiday season? Have you skied yet? When will you?
Let’s go!

Rules of the Game: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living
| 1:31 am
Ever since it was clear that the Open Your Heart books would launch successfully (more on that in a bit), I’ve kept an eye out for the next good move for DreamTime Publishing. And I have to say that I’ve received many interesting queries and proposals from writers with excellent ideas. Nothing — until now — struck me as the right next thing to publish.
Recently, though, I had the pleasure of meeting a fascinating woman who had self-published Rules of the Game. I asked if I could read the book, thinking that I might be able to help toss suggestions at her for marketing, PR, that sort of thing. Instead, I was so impressed with it that I asked her if she’d be interested in having DreamTime publish it. Thankfully, she was, and we’ll be releasing Rules of the Game in March 2007. For a sneak preview, visit www.elfredapretorius.com. Even better is that she has several other excellent ideas in mind for additional books.
On the Open Your Heart front, we were lucky to receive excellent advice on the covers from major buyers at Borders and Barnes and Noble. This means that our publication date has been pushed back a bit for the initial for titles, but we’ll be posting the new covers soon, as well as posting the new publication date once it’s finalized. It will likely be in late January to early February.
Finally, I am reading a fascinating book on the zen reaction to terrorism, and I’ll be posting more about that very soon.
